Stars & Christmas Lights
NIGHT-TIME STAR TREK
Take your children for a short night-time walk in the dark - by candlelight. Mary and Joseph wouldn't have had a torch with batteries, after all! Choose a clear night so that you can admire "God's Christmas Lights" as they twinkle overhead!NATIVITY STORY BY CANDLELIGHT
Prepare for your very special storytime by gathering some candles and some comfy cushions. Set the scene with some Christmas Carols playing gently in the background. Then snuggle up with your children to re-discover the true Christmas Nativity Story together - by candlelight!CHRISTMAS CRAFT:
MAKE AN ADVENT CANDLE PROCESSION DECORATION
Make a beautifully sparkling procession of advent candle holders - and light a new candle every day before Christmas.
(Instructions below)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADVENT CANDLE PROCESSION DECORATION
Make these and light a new Advent candle every day before Christmas.
- Collect a set of empty jars - baby-food jars (the taller kind), jam-jars - or any size in between! (If you start on 1st December you will need 24 jars).
- Dip pieces of brightly coloured tissue paper into PVA (white) glue thinned with water.
- Lay the wet tissue onto the glass, smoothing out air-bubbles gently.
- stick on designs of coloured tissue paper for a lovely effect.
- Leave to dry thoroughly (overnight).
- Put a nightlight or candle inside each jar and line them up in a procession along a window sill or mantelpiece (well away from curtains, Christmas cards or anything else that might catch fire!).
- Light one more candle each day!
